Writing the Book

The Adventure of Writing this Book:

The first kind person who spoke with me while I was writing this book was Ben Harrell, the owner of Wasilla’s favorite coffee shop, Mocha Moose! They were so friendly. I was raised in a family business, and I found the family to have that genuine warmth we all like to run across…not only when we visit a coffee shop…but when writing a book like I was when I called them.

The next person was Ruthie Andree, who is Todd Palin’s aunt. She was awesome. She was not only helpful and kind but sent me some new family photos. Through an amazing set of circumstances, my son ran into an associate whose family member knew Deanna, Todd’s cousin. My son contacted her and the rest is history. Deanna also shared a warm story through her mom…

It was a joy to actually speak to Sarah’s mother and dad, too! Sarah’s mom Sally had been credited with faith’s influence in Sarah’s life. I thought it was probably that she had been influenced by a move that was going on around in the world in the Church at that time. It turns out that she was, but she wasn’t aware of anything. She was a person touched by God and blessed by His grace. Sally wrote the whole story to me in an email, and then gave me the phone number and email address of the friend, Mary Ellan, who first took her to a Christian women’s retreat. I am thankful for their kindness and openness in sharing their stories.

This warmth these people possess made me think of moving to Alaska! At least visiting….
